I care for hospitalized children, from the general and common to the rare and specialized. I also spend a portion of my time teaching medical students, residents, and fellows as well as in curriculum development and education administration.
I'm passionate about all children receiving the highest levels of care regardless of ability to pay, race or ethnic background. Children have no agency in who cares for them or how to advocate for themselves, making the inequities in our healthcare system particularly egregious.
Mentorship and sponsorship has been everything in helping me gain traction in my career. Often when new opportunities arise, as a junior person, I am not in the room. Having people advocate for me or even tell me about opportunities has allowed me to grow in ways I would have never imagined for myself.
