Jennifer O’Toole, MD, MEd, SFHM
Dr. Jennifer O’Toole is a pediatric and adult hospitalist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) and University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and a Professor of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (UCCOM). She holds a Master's of Education in curriculum and instruction from the University of Cincinnati College of Education. Since 2017 she has served as Program Director of Cincinnati’s Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program, after having served as associate program director for nine years. In addition, she serves as program director of the IMSTAR Medical Education Fellowship within the Department of Internal Medicine at UCCOM and Co-President of the Women in Medicine and Science Organization at CCHMC. Since 2010 she has held the role of site principal investigator at Cincinnati Children's for the I-PASS Study Group. She also serves as Chair of the ADVANCE PHM steering committee, and organization committed to achieving gender equity for women in pediatric hospital medicine. Dr. O'Toole has received the Emerging Leadership Award for an Individual from the AAMC's Group on Women in Medicine and Science, the Society of Hospital Medicine's (SHM) Award for Teaching Excellence (2018), the inaugural Med-Peds Program Director's Brendan P. Kelly Award (2017), and the Cincinnati Children's Faculty Education Achievement Award (2013). Her clinical and research interests include residency education, curriculum development and innovation, handoff communication, patient/family centered care, and achieving gender equity for women in medicine.

Jorge Ganem, MD, FAAP
Jorge Ganem is a Pediatric Hospitalist at PeaceHealth RiverBend Medical Center in Eugene, Oregon. He is an award-winning educator and graduate of the AAP’s Advancing Pediatric Educator Excellence (APEX) program. He serves as the Chair of the AAP Section on Hospital Medicine’s Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion. Dr. Ganem is a leader in quality improvement and in efforts to promote diversity and inclusion. Dr. Ganem received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and completed his residency in Pediatrics at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland where he also served as Chief Resident.

Neha Shah, MD, MPH
Dr. Neha Shah is a Pediatric Hospitalist and Associate Division Chief in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS). She has been the program director of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) Fellowship Program at Children’s National since 2010. Dr Shah received her undergraduate and medical degrees at The George Washington University SMHS. Subsequently, she completed categorical pediatric residency and PHM fellowship at Children’s National. An award-winning expert in medical education, Dr Shah’s scholarly area of interest is in curriculum development, specifically around PHM fellowship training and use of blended learning in education. She has been intimately involved in trainee and faculty education on care of children with medical complexity in the inpatient setting, from curriculum development to assessment using virtual simulation, and has published numerous articles and resources on this topic. Currently, she is directing the implementation of a peer support program for the medical staff, while studying the impact of community building and wellness activities on PHM faculty engagement and burnout. Nationally, Dr Shah has played an integral role in the development of standards for fellowship training in PHM as Chair of the Council of PHM Fellowship Directors and as an invited member of the inaugural PHM Sub-board of the American Board of Pediatrics.

Vineeta Mittal, MD, MBA
Dr. Mittal is Professor of Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. She is the Division Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and the Program Director for the Fellowship Program. Her clinical practice involves care of hospitalized children. She is passionate about streamlining care, practicing evidence-based medicine, quality improvement, resident education and family-centered bedside teaching. Dr. Mittal’s research interests include family-centered rounds, respiratory illness, benchmarking care and quality metrics, and coordination of care.
Dr. Mittal is a graduate of Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Educational Scholars Program (ESP). In 2008, she founded the APA Family-Centered Care Special Interest Group (SIG) and was elected to Co-chair the APA Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) Special Interest Group. In this role, she served as a member of the PHM annual conference planning committee, member of Joint Council of the PHM and member of the PHM and American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) Sub-board Certification Petition and Leadership group. She co-chaired the annual PHM conference in 2015. In 2017, after the PHM subspecialty petition was approved, Dr. Mittal accepted the position to be a Medical Editor at the ABP PHM Sub-board. In this role, she served as a content expert for the PHM Certification exam in 2019, 2022, and 2024. Locally, Dr. Mittal has served on Children’s Medical Center Dallas’ Medical Executive Committee as President of Medical/Dental Staff. In this role, she chaired the Peer Review Committee. She values transparency, equity and high-quality care. Dr. Mittal’s husband is a neonatologist and they have been married for 24 years. She has two kids- 19-year-old daughter in college and a 15-year-old son who is a freshman in high school. She enjoys travelling, spending time with family and dancing.

Carley Grogan
Carley Grogan serves as the Institutional Accreditation Coordinator of Graduate Medical Education at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. In March 2020, she took on the role of Director of Operations for the nationally recognized Advance PHM organization, which is dedicated to achieving gender equity for women in pediatric hospital medicine. Additionally, she oversees the EVOLVE Fellowship program, dedicated to developing leaders in pediatric hospital medicine to tackle contemporary workforce and workplace challenges. She is the Vice Chair of the Accreditation Committee and a board member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee.
