Although I spend the majority of my time in administrative leadership as the George W. Hallett MD Chair of Pediatrics I work clinically with the residents and students as a Hospitalist. I enjoy clinical teaching and the opportunity to keep up with the latest advancements in patient care as well as to identify challenges to optimal patient care and interprofessional learning.
Advocating for Pediatric resources is an important cause for me as I now work as a Pediatric Hospitalist within a larger adult-focused academic health system. Promoting physician wellness and career advancement especially for women in PHM is very important.
I started our PHM Division in 2001- so had wonderful senior colleagues in other divisions serve as mentors/sponsors during my 27 years at Children’s National as PHM division chief and Vice- Chair for Education. They provided guidance to enable me to advance my academic career as a clinician-educator and sponsorship to become an institutional leader. At a national level, the Academic Pediatric Association has been invaluable in providing faculty development, senior and peer mentorship.
